Toronto’s Blacks Adventure Outfitters has a wide selection of rigging hardware for use in rope access, tree care, rescue and climbing applications. Some of our most popular products include:
SMC Large Steel Lock D Carabiner NFPA
Our large-sized, locking carabiners were developed by SMC specifically for the needs of the fire and rescue communities. These are available in several different metal finishes, in both NFPA (Class G) and non-NFPA versions. Black zinc-coated models are ideal for tactical operations and the stainless steel model is best for corrosive environments. Large gate opening fits easily over litter rails. All models have stainless gates and locking sleeves for greater strength and reliability.
Based on Russ Anderson’s original design, these pulleys are essential equipment for the serious rigger. Rotating side plates allow attachment of the pulley anywhere on the rope and the 3” and 4” models will accept multiple carabiners. Axle nuts are marked with a blue witness line to indicate if the axle nut has been turned or tampered with. These feature stainless steel side plates.
The SMC Figure 8 remains one of the most popular full-sized descenders in use by fire, rescue, police and tactical professionals. Made of solid aluminum, this heat-treated figure 8 should be a staple in your rescue bag.
This high-strength, high efficiency pulley is designed for rescue professionals setting up progress capture systems. To learn more about the MINDER, visit the PETZL® website.
I’D L Self-Braking Descender
The I’D L self-braking descender with anti-panic function is primarily designed for technical rescue. It has a multi-function handle that allows control of the descent speed and positioning at a work station, without the need to tie off the device. You can expect fluid movement along inclined or horizontal terrain. The integrated anti-panic function and anti-error catch limit the risk of an accident due to user error. Its rugged construction makes it particularly suited for hauling and lowering heavy loads.

The GRILLON HOOK adjustable lanyard is used to make work positioning systems, to complement a fall-arrest system. Its length can be very easily and precisely adjusted as necessary for comfortable positioning at the work station. Its HOOK connector is ideal for using the lanyard in double mode on the harness side attachment points.
